Clowning

Clowning

Professionally led workshop

Improvisation and authenticity are the driving forces behind theatrical creation in clowning. This professionally led and participatory activity gets children doing improvisation, rhythm, spatial-play and clowning exercises. By focusing on the emotions children experience in their daily lives and by working on rhythm and ways of walking, the children will each find their own inner clown, since each is just waiting to be discovered! The children are led to role play solo, with a partner or two, or as a small group. Each workshop begins with a short presentation of clowning. Following the warm-up, the students do various clowning exercises. A demonstration closes the workshop. Taking place in a safe environment that complies with current public health guidelines, this participatory, guided activity can be held in daycare centres, schools, libraries and community centres.
